Virgil Flonda
(actor, 1948-2006)
Virgil Flonda was a well known and loved Romanian actor from Sibiu National Theatre ‘Radu Stanca’, and a former director of this institution, for many years, Virgil Flonda was an artist who has always known how to play with his creativity. A man of remarkable humour and joviality, he was a constant point of balance and a pillar of theatre in Sibiu.
Finishing his studies in 1977 at the Institute of Theatre and Film Arts, Bucharest, Virgil has embarked on a career spanning thirty years. He has played many roles for theatre, television and film, but his greatest love, and the area of his career for which he is most loved, was theatre. Some of his unforgettable roles were in ‘Othello’, ‘Uncle Vanya’, ‘Pygmalion’, and ‘Waiting for Godot’ – which was also his last performance.

Gabriel Lambescu was a famous Romanian architect and tireless worker for the conservation of the built patrimony in Romania.
