Tuesday 17 June 2008
In response to the invitation extended by St George Romanian Orthodox Church in London, the Axios organisation presents ‘Axios – A smile regained’, at the Romanian Cultural Centre in London, 8th floor, 54-62 Regent Street, London W1B 5RE, between 18.30 – 20.30 on Tuesday 17 June 2008.
Programme:
- short presentation of Axios, its activities and projects of collaboration with the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Western and Southern Europe;
- a film which presents the first major activity of the organisation, namely the camp organised in August 2007 in Romania for 37 children from the Valea Plopului and Dumbrava Monastery orphanages in Romania;
- presentation of the things that the children produced during the camp;
- questions and answers;
- short informal reception.
The purpose and the objectives of this activity are to present the children’s real life and diminish the negative image that the general public has about the orphanages in Romania. This event also wants to make known the activities run by Axios and to present the projects of collaboration between Axios and the Metropolis. Axios would also like to emphasise the dignity and the potential that the children have, even though they live in a difficult situation and to help the integration of these children in Europe.
The general public is invited to attend – especially members of the audience interested in educational and cultural activities for children, in the social implication of the Church, in the collaboration between the Church and NGOs; and those willing to help (in any way) the development of these projects.
