‘Great Pianists and Pedagogues in Conversation with Carola Grindea ’ (Kahn and Averill, January 2007, ISBN 1871082870. £15.95, available from www.centralbooks.co.uk)

The book was launched on Monday 22 January 2007 at the Bluthner Pianos shop, London .
The interviews in the book were first published in the Piano Journal (a publication of European Piano Teachers Association) and they are published in chronological order, starting in 1980, with Louis Kentner, EPTA UK President at the time. He was followed by Muray Perahia, the three Menuhins – Hepzibah, Yalta, Jeremy), Radu Lupu, Vladimir Ashkenazy, John Lill, John Ogdon, Shura Cherkasky, Jorge Bolet, Fernando Laires and his wife Nelta True, Nancy Lee Harper and so on, to include a galaxy of great pianists and pedagogues of our times. Among the pedagogues and music scholars are: Fanny Waterman, Peter Feuchtwanger, Reginald Gerig, Joseph Bloch, Maurice Hinson and others. Sadly, several artists are no longer with us.

The interviews are published as they first appeared, giving the artists’ views at the time.
There is a common topic discussed by most interviewees, the phenomenon of ‘Peak Experience in the Musical Performance‘, each one expressing his or her views, which makes for a fascinating reading.
