Tudor Andrei
First Prize winner of the International Competition held at the Niccolo Paganini Academy of Music in Genoa, Italy, the Romanian violinist Tudor Andrei is rapidly gaining a reputation as yet another bright talent emerging from Romania. He has been a winner of the Violin Romanian Olympics in two editions, as well as gaining many other national awards.
Tudor has already performed a large number of concerts in important halls in Romania and since arriving in Britain, in September 2005, he has performed in venues such as Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music, St James’s Church, St John’s Smith Square, William Goodenough Trust, St John the Divine-Richmond. In December 2006 he had his debut at St. Martin’s in the Fields, followed by invitations to play at the White Hall and Foreign Press Club.
Tudor Andrei is currently in the second year at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studies violin under the guidance of Professor Remus Azoitei. Tudor’s studies in London are supported by The Ratiu Foundation
Hetty Snell
Hetty Snell started playing the cello at the age of 7. At the age of 13, she joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and continued to play with them for 5 years, where she was given the opportunity to play under conductors including Sir Collin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle and Yan Pascal Tortelier. During her time at Wells Cathedral School, Hetty performed at the Wigmore Hall, at the Cheltenham International Music Festival and also participated in the Shanghai Arts Festival in China.
Following a memorable performance of Karl Jenkins’ Mass for Peace ‘The Armed Man’ at Wells Cathedral in the presence of the composer, Karl Jenkins invited her to take the solo cello part for the piece again in the performance at the National Eisteddfod in Wales in the summer of 2006.
Hetty gained a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music where she currently studies with Josephine Knight and is now in her second year.
Ioannis Giannopoulos
Ioannis Giannopoulos was born in Athens in 1984. He started piano lessons with his grandmother at the age of 7. Two years later he continued at the Conservatory of Athens. Since September 2006, he is a post-graduate student at the Royal Academy of Music, in Ian Fountain’s class. In the Sterndale Bennett competition (Held in the Royal Academy of Music in November 2007), he was awarded a “very highly recommended” prize.
Ioannis has performed in several festivals and series of concerts such as the Athens College Music Concert (2006), Music Festival-Tribute to W A Mozart (2006), Greek Composers’ Concerts (2007). He has also participated in recordings for the National theatre and the Public theatre of Northern Greece, and took part in master classes of famous teachers and soloists such as Penetieu, Bashkirov, Glida, Ringeissen, Dimov, Mehner, and has participated in an open class with the famous pianist Ivo Pogorelich.
