Music by Francis Poulenc, choreographed by Glen Tetley.

The new ballet Season opens with an intense and vibrant mixed programme that represents the towering achievements of great figures of 20th-century choreography and music. With Antonio Pappano, the Music Director of The Royal Opera, conducting the orchestra for The Royal Ballet, the genius of the works will be matched with undoubted excellence in performance. Glen Tetley’s 80th year is marked by the return of ‘Voluntaries’ to the Royal Ballet repertory. Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Strings and Percussion is matched with Tetley’s beautiful and sinuous imagery, whose echoes of movement and structure subtly build through its free-ranging sections - the ‘voluntaries’ of the title.
