Mahala Rai Banda successfully combine the brass and string traditions in Romanian Gypsy music and create a funky urban sound. Recently featured on the ‘Electric Gypsyland’ compilations, the band are joined for part of their set by DJ Gaetano Fabri and go head to head for a gypsy/remixer soundclash. They share the bill with the Ukrainian-born musician Eugene Hütz who will perform with one of his childhood heroes, the guitarist and singer Sasha Kolpakov who leads the Kolpakov Trio.
This concert is part of ‘The 1000 Year Journey’ and ‘World & Roots’ programmes.
