‘A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians’ by Dorota Maslowska, translated by Lisa Goldman and Paul Sirett. Directed by Lisa Goldman
Cast: Andrew Tiernan, Andrea Riseborough, Howard Ward, Valerie Lilley, Ishia Bennison and John Rogan.

A fast-paced road-trip on black ice, laced with dark, ironic humour, A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians illuminates the dangers of being different.
‘The worst .. thing is that the world wants to turn you into a grey rag, saluting in a line… like you, cold cut man. I don’t want to be like that.’

At 24, Dorota Maslowska is a phenomenon in Poland. Her first, controversial, novel (White and Red), written when she was just 18, earned her acclaim, notoriety and a prestigious Polityka Passport award. Her second novel (The Queen’s Puke) has just won the NIKE, Poland’s highest literary award. This is her playwriting debut.
