‘Reality Won’t Bite’

Short film/UK/2007/25 mins/colour/English

Jack Fogg works as a musical theatre director. In his world, artificiality is normal and emotion is all performance. Shortly after burying his pet dog, Jack is visited by a man claiming to be Sparky reincarnated. This shifts his perspective on things. ‘Reality Won’t Bite’ is a comic film about the journey to find happiness. Based on a story by Marius Olteanu.

Marius Olteanu was born in 1979, in Bucharest, Romania. Marius dreamt of being an actor since he was five. Fifteen years later, he enrolled in the Romanian National Film School UNATC, and the films he wrote and directed whilst studying, ‘This Is a Make Believe’ and ‘Good Ideas Come From Above’, to name but two, made growing-up seem like a good thing. A Best Director Award at CinemaIubit Film Festival followed in 2003. Once a graduate, he decided to go fully pro and worked as an assistant director on two big budget American feature films, which made growing-up sort of a good thing. So Marius went back to school, to learn if he can be the director he wanted to be. After five short films and some very worthy NFTS experiences, including the pride and joy of directing a musical as part of his graduation film, Marius learnt what there was to learn in a film school and is now looking forward to directing his first feature film.
