Formed in 1995 in Bucharest, the Contempo Quartet has toured the world extensively and won many international prizes. The Quartet has appeared at major European festivals including Munich, Eisenstadt, Bath, Berlin and Paris.

As Quartet-in-Residence in Galway the Contempo Quartet hosted the first music summer school there in July 2004, while in July 2005 the members of the Quartet launched their own festival Contempo Summer Concerts which involved artists such as Emma Johnson, Martin Lovett, Bruno Giuranna and Mairtin O’Connor.

This concert is organised by the Purley OverSeas Trust. Any profits from the concert will go to boost primary education in Uganda.
