Dr John Akeroyd is botanical consultant to Fundatia ADEPT. He has visited Romania regularly since 2000, and is now a leading proponent of how holistic conservation, centred on farming communities and combining tradition with innovation, can help to protect Transylvania, one of Europe's most significant cultural landscapes. In his talk he will describe the astonishing wildflower meadows and other natural riches of a special region, and show that historically it was a centre of culture, creativity and wealth, based on nature's resources. There is no reason why Transylvania, presently emerging from a period of rural economic decline, should not regain its former prosperity – and conserve what HRH The Prince of Wales calls "Romania's remarkable agrarian heritage".

Proceeds will support Fundația ADEPT’s activities in Transylvania in aid of nature, landscapes and farming communities.

Please apply for tickets through the link provided here, or through donations which can be arranged at the door.
