In the upcoming  auction, Ghenie’s piece Dr. Mengele 2 will be on sale. The painting is estimated at some GBP 30,000 – GBP 40,000. The 36-year old Ghenie is already known internationally, after his art sold in New York – also at a Sotheby’s auction – for  USD 15,000 in 2011, and at the Tajan Paris action house in 2012, where his art raised EUR 52,000. Ghenie, born in 1977 in Baia Mare in Romania, is the co-founder of the Plan B gallery in Cluj – Napoca. He frequently exhibits his work across Europe, with solo shows at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest in 2009 and Stedelijk Musuem voor Actuele Kuns, Ghent, in 2011. His first solo US museum exhibition was presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, in 2012.
