Romanian virtuoso violinist Bogdan Vacarescu and Shetland-born pianist Neil Georgeson perform music by Enescu, Hubay, Achron and Bazzini, delivered with elegance, wit and inspirational technique at JW3 Howard Hall


Bogdan Vacarescu is an international Romanian concert violinist. He made his solo debut at the age of fourteen performing Vieuxtemps concerto no. 4 with Brasov Philharmonic conducted by Ionescu-Galati. He soon appeared under the baton of many prestigious conductors including Carol Litvin, Daisuke Soga (Japan), Petre Sbârcea, Ludovic Bacs, Antonio Ardinghi (Italy), Anthony Randall (UK), with the Bucharest Radio Orchestra, Sibiu Philharmonic, Ploiesti Philharmonic, Sinfonia Cambrensis (UK), performing major concertos by Paganini, Brahms, Lalo, Mendelssohn, Bach, Wieniawski, Bruch and others.

Neil Georgeson is from the Shetland Islands. He came to London in 2001 to study piano at the Royal Academy of Music, where he completed a Masters, studying with Patsy Toh, Ian Fountain and Joanna MacGregor. He started piano at the age of 7, teaching himself to play and now enjoys a busy and varied career as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed all over the world (Italy, Spain, Austria, the US, Taiwan etc.) and as a soloist at London venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as on more unconventional platforms including the Glastonbury Festival and the Old Vic Tunnels. He has appeared on the South Bank Show for ITV and performed live on BBC Radio 3. He has premiered hundreds of works by a variety of composers, and has worked with eminent composers on performances of their music, including Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Thomas Ades, Martin Bresnick, Bent Sorenson, Anna Meredith and Jonathan Harvey. Neil is also a writer, librettist, composer and curator, and is Artistic Director of the contemporary music group, the Ossian Ensemble.
