Roxana and Ancuta Nite perform together in Glasgow's beautiful Merchants House. Their programme includes Schumann's extraordinary Dichterliebe 'A Poet's Love', his best known song cycle, and John Maxwell Geddes's beautiful and witty cycle of Scottish songs, Lasses Love and Life. These are accompanied by some of Puccini's most famous arias and a selection of Rachmaninov's Russian songs.

Roxana and Ancuta Nite were born in Piatra Neamt, Romania.

Roxana studied at the Constanta and Bucharest Conservatoires and has performed in many competitions and recitals in Romania, Germany, Holland, England and Scotland, and collaborated with various theatres in Romania where she interpreted many operatic roles including Adina (“L’Elisir d’amore by Donizetti), Dorabella (“Cosi fan tutte” by Mozart), Rosalinda (“Die Fledermaus” - J. Strauss), Donna Elvira (“Don Giovanni”), Countess Almaviva (“The Marriage of Figaro”), Veta (“A Stormy Night” by Romanian composer P. Constantinescu). She recently reprised the roles of Hebe and L’Amour from “Les Indes Galantes” by Rameau June 2014 with Woodhouse Opera Company in Surrey. Based in Glasgow since 2010 she has sung recitals, oratorios including the soprano solo in Mozart’s Requiem with Milngavie Choir and music theatre, as well as teaching singing and piano.

Ancuța came to Scotland in 2001 after winning the Constantin Silvestri National Music Competition where she was offered a full international scholarship to study at the Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh for one year. In 2003 Ancuța joined the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on a Stevenson Scholarship and an ABRSM International Scholarship. She graduated with a First Class BMus Hons degree, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s Degree. Ancuța also won the Mozart Concerto Competition and was selected to perform Saint-Saëns 2nd Piano Concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in March 2008 as part of her final exam. As well as performing, Ancuța very much enjoys teaching the piano and she is a member of staff at the Mary Erskine School and Stewarts Melville College in Edinburgh, and St Aloysius College and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
