The Shops Project by artists Rebecca French and Andrew Mottershead was a two-year project bringing together a collection of intimate portraits of local shops and contemporary urban life from around the world. Commissioned by Site Gallery, the artists travelled to cities in Brazil, China, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey and back to Sheffield to engage with a wide range of communities and audiences.

To accompany the launch of the book ‘People, Places, Process: The Shops Project’, on 21 June 2010, FrenchMottershead present a section of the work from The Shops Project at the Ratiu Foundation / Romanian Cultural Centre, in collaboration with Site Gallery Sheffield.
