‘Omagiu’ * strikes back!
*(Homage, pronounced Oh-Mah-Jee-Oo)

The first urban-style and contemporary art magazine in Romania has published its second issue.

‘Omagiu’ aims to be a platform dedicated to the creative industries, gathering the most influential contemporary artists, architects, designers and musicians from the new generations. The magazine is a fusion of several types of publications, promising to be a trustworthy guide in the aesthetic jungle of the nowadays consumerist society, but also a collectable item, which will debate and analyse the vast contents of the urban culture in Romania and abroad. ‘Omagiu’ promises to be always one step ahead of the trend that becomes mass phenomenon, by observing and promoting innovative cultural areas.

‘Omagiu’ is a quarterly magazine. The SECOND issue, on December 2005 / January / February 2006, comes in 288 excellently printed pages, and with a tag price of Euro13, US$15, £8 (or Lei 28).

The second issue focuses on Tourism and in it you can find, among other things, the following:

Miss Tourism 2005; pictorials by Alexandra Croitoru and Camil Dumitrescu; texts on art and other matters by Stefan Tiron, Irina Bako, Dragos Bucurenci, Ina Ilie, Cosmin Costinas, Alex-Leo Serban; a photo-essay on Republic of Moldova by Tomas Ciulei; Gojira wearing a tie; cartoons by Matei Branea; drawings by Omar, Marina M, Dan Miron, Alexandru Ciubotariu. And of course, the magazine also provides the English version of all the texts.

‘Omagiu’ issue no. 2 was launched officially in Bucharest, on 20 December 2005.
