Our interpretation is a modern one: bringing this ancient exploration of a messiah figure confronting a power-hungry king into the present, exploring it as an allegory for totalitarianism and attempted dissidence. This is an ensemble production and the creative process has been fundamentally collaborative. The show features an all-female cast with six professional DC actors performing alongside two Georgetown undergraduates. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Alex Fund, a non-governmental organization working to integrate severely disadvantaged children into the Romanian education system.
