RCC is looking for a paid intern

Posted 29th March 2016

Last summer we started professionally archiving and digitizing the Ion Ratiu Archive in London.

An archivist from IICCMER (find more details here) has been working in the archive since August last year and we are currently in need of a person to mainly assist the archivist in the cataloguing process.

The work (counting documents, removing any metal staples and paperclips, organizing documents chronologically, reading through the documents, finding keywords for each file, writing the inventory sheet, etc.) is supervised by the archivist, with whom the assistant works directly. Assistance is mainly needed for the correspondence boxes which have already been arranged alphabetically by previous assistants.

PLEASE NOTE that this is an admin position, not a research position, and because we have a schedule to keep, a rather brisk working rhythm is required.

This position is available on a full-time basis, however, we do consider part-time or flexible hours if strong commitment is shown.

Our office is located in Central London. Working hours: 10 am - 6:30 pm.
The intern is needed for the coming months (a minimum of 2 months).
Required to start ASAP.

This position is ideal for history, humanities, or archiving students who want to get a hands-on experience in a valuable archive soon to be opened to the public.

If you’re interested, send us a copy of your CV and a short message (letting us know why you’d like to work in the archive) to mail@romanianculturalcentre.org.uk with the subject title Ratiu Archive Intern

Thank you!
