Check out this eclectic exhibition of paintings, watercolours, drawings and prints by gifted Romanian artists Cristian Luchian and Cristian Stancu. The exhibition is part of the Artists’ Open House at the Dulwich Festival 2015.
A versatile theatre director and visual artist, Cristian Luchian draws his inspiration from the vibrant colours, majestic landscape and rich cultural heritage of his native Romania. Expect spectacular layers of mineral colours depicting the Carpathian Mountains and radiant tones evoking the sunny Transylvanian countryside, alongside playful interpretations and portraits of cultural icon Maria Tănase and Brancusi’s Mademoiselle Pogany.
With an impressive experience in techniques such as Byzantine Icon painting on wood and glass, Flemish and Venetian oil on canvas, and fresco & tempera mural painting, Cristian Stancu has a passion for cityscapes, nature and the human figure. His watercolours capture the warmth and light of Spain, as well as the hustle and bustle of his new home, London, whilst the exquisite portraits on canvas delve thoroughly into the complexities of the human psyche. Commissions welcome!
The works in the exhibition are for sale, with prices ranging from £20 to £1,200.
Light refreshments available and open access to the blossoming garden if the weather is kind.
