A boxing lesson, a taxi ride, a short fling, an unexpected visit and a resurrected dog - each, in its own way, a survival lesson collected in the weightier and more reflection-inviting shorts session of our programme. Fresh and gripping, or cameral and contemplative, they all capture significant individual mutations, often in an absorbing cinematic language.

At 24, and having just graduated from film school, Negoescu is one of the youngest voices coming out of Romania. Home was screened at the 2007 edition of the London Film Festival. His other recent short, Late (2007), was selected in the short film competition of this year's Berlinale.
