Graduate of the Institute of Theatre and Cinema
Director of the Ministry of Culture's Studio of Cinematographic Creation ( Romania ) since 1990
Lucian Pintilie works in theatre, television and film.

Television:

From 1956 to 1959, he produced dozens of feature reports, live broadcasts and theatre programmes.

Theatre:

From 1956 to 1972, he staged some thirty theatre shows adapted from classical and contemporary plays by Brecht, Shaw, Gorki, Chekhov, Max Frisch, Caragiale, Gogol etc. Many of these shows were invited to various important festivals.

1972 – After a series of warnings, his show The Inspector General (Gogol) was banned by the Government. From then on Lucian Pintilie only worked abroad until 1989.
