The Romanian series on the musical stage of Trafalgar Square continues with a recital offered by Ghenadie Rotari, hailed by Artribune as an “exquisite accordionist”. The programme will include works by Sofia Gubaidulina, Domenico Scarlatti, Magnus Lindberg and Johann Sebastian Bach.
Born in 1991 in Moldova, Ghenadie Rotari started playing the accordion at the age of 9. He is the winner of the first prize at various international music competitions including 'Strumenti & Musica' Festival and 'Citta’ di Piove di Sacco' in Italy, and 'Svirel' in Slovenia. Ghenadie has participated in numerous concerts in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Belgium, Romania, Finland and Germany where he has performed a repertoire that ranges from classical to contemporary. In September 2015 he was the accordionist in residence at the composition masterclass of Alessandro Solbiati, where he recorded with pianist Alfonso Alberti and clarinettist Selene Framarin the works composed by participants in the masterclass.
