  • The Romanian Cultural Institute and the International Youth Arts Festival Kingston proudly present the British premiere of 'Whispers: an Armenian Tale' ('Staipelochian'), an eye-opening production of Rampa Theatre Company in Bucharest. Based on Nobel nominee Varujan Vosganian’s novel 'The Book of Whispers', the play tells the story of the Armenian community in Romania during the 20th century - a saga of solidarity, tragedy and redemption staged with daring imagination and youthful energy.

The International Youth Arts Festival Kingston (IYAF) is one of the largest and most diverse youth events in the world. Launched in 2009 IYAF has become a ‘must see’ arts festival and often considered a precursor to Edinburgh Fringe. Showcasing the best young talent nationally and internationally IYAF provides a platform where emerging young artists aged 5-26 years old can reveal and share their skills and artistic expression with local and visiting audiences. Over the last 6 years the growth has been phenomenal; more than 25,000 young people have participated in delivering the festival as artists, project managers, interns, volunteers in over 18 venues.

The independent Rampa Theatre Company was established in 2013 and ever since has collaborated with many arts institutions both public and private such as the I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film, 'Pro Casandra' Association or the 'Solacolu Inn' Association, putting on theatre, both in conventional and unconventional spaces. All members of the Rampa Theatre Company are alumni of the I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film.
