30 October: Conference 'Romania in the EU: a win-win situation'
Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu, Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania, will lecture on Romania's accession to the EU and will take part in the launch of the book 'EU-Romania: Accession and Beyond', alongside the editor, David Phinnemore. Organised in conjunction with the Federal Trust for Education and Research, the LSE SU Romanian Society and the Embassy of Romania.

November: 'Romania and the Effective Management of EU Funds'
Tudor Chiuariu, Secretary of State, Department for the Fight against Fraud will talk about measures being taken by Romania to ensure transparency in its handling of EU funds and the progress made in the fight against corruption. Organised by the Embassy of Romania.

6 November: Seminar on 'Romania's Europeanisation Process'
Raluca Boroianu of the London School of Economics will describe the political, economic and social policies that have shaped the transformation of Romania since the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu in 1989.

Understanding Romanian Arts and Culture
31 October: A fost sau n-a fost? (12.08, East of Bucharest)
Directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, the Winner of Camera d'Or Prize at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival receives its UK premiere as part of TheTimes/British Film Institute London Film Festival.
Venue: Odeon West End Cinema (21.00). A second screening will be held on 2 November at the National Film Theatre (18.15).
2 November: Opening of the Romanian Cultural Institute
Attic Arts opens the Romanian Cultural Institute season in London by inviting young Romanian artists to take residence at 1 Belgrave Square. Over the next 18 months they will use the Institute's venue as a blank sheet for creative projects spanning music to design, photography to sculpture and more. First resident is promising violinist Tudor Andrei, preparing for his recital at St. Martin-in-the-Fields on 11 December. 3 November: 'Global Photography Now: The Balkans'
Alexandra Croitoru and Aurora Dediu, two internationally acclaimed Romanian photographers, take part in a roundtable discussion on the ethnic, religious and gender contradictions of the modern Balkans.

6-9 November: Pro Patrimonio Art & Music Festival
The Pro Patrimonio Festival is a celebration of Romania's cultural heritage and folk art. This year's programme includes a painting exhibition by Celia Ward; carpet exhibition, mask-making and carpet weaving workshop by Elisabeta Murgu, Maria Dinoiu and Paul Buta; concert by violinist Andrei Gocan and pianist Daniel Adni, lectures on Romanian folklore traditions by Sarah Posey and Ion Minoiu and museum visits. 3-5 November: Learn Romanian at the Language Show
Let language break down barriers, illuminate new cultures and open up your world. Whether your interest is as a beginner, an intermediate, a language teacher or a linguist, learn a little Romanian at the Language Show, discover Romania's wine and story-telling tradition. Organised with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute.

2-6 November: Trade Mission: Association of Romanian Wine Producers
Ten Romanian companies will tour the UK to introduce and promote over 25 varieties of Romanian wine. Their programme includes a wine-tasting event (3 November, 18.00, 1 Belgrave Square). Organised by the Department for Foreign Trade, Association of Romanian Wine Producers and Exporters and the Embassy of Romania.
6-9 November: Romania at the World Travel Market
37 Romanian tourist companies will exhibit at the 2006 World Travel Market, the tourism and travel industries' most important annual event. Organised with the support of the Romanian National Tourist Office.
