On the evening of Thursday 29 September 2011, Booker longlisted writer Patrick McGuiness talked about his debut novel, The Last Hundred Days, during an event hosted by the Ratiu Foundation. Introducing his book, Patrick McGuinness mentioned the time he spent in Romania during the 1980s, quoting it as the direct inspiration for his exploration of a world of danger, repression and corruption. After reading excerpts from his book, Patrick McGuinness took part in a discussion with Dr Mike Phillips OBE, convenor of the Culture Power series, and Ramona Mitrica, Director of the Ratiu Foundation. It was followed by a Q&A session with audience and a wine reception. [gallery]
